Mamanuca

Mamanuca

Located just off the coast of Viti Levu by the city of Nadi, the Mamanuca Islands are the drier region of Fiji, thus providing year-round mild and sunny climate, and features more semi-arid landscape.

Made up of a dozen or so islands, the Mamanucas (pronounced mama-nu-thas) provide a paradise for snorkelers and scuba divers, with coral reefs that are habitat to some of most beautiful and exotic fish in the world. The crystal clear, warm sea makes exploring the underwater caves, canyons and coral heads an exciting and breathtaking experience.

Many of the Mamanucas are tiny enough to be inhabited by only one resort on each island, giving visitors a sense of complete privacy and retreat on their own tropical enchantment. Mana and Malolo are the only resort islands that also have Fijian settlements on them. Malololailai Island is home to Plantation Island Resort and Musket Cove Island Resort. Malololailai, which means “Little Malolo,” is a harbor stop to yachts, and is the finish line for a yachting race from Aukland to Fiji every June. The island also has a nine-hole golf course.

The Mamanucas are easily accessible by plane from Nadi Airport to Malololaiai. The Tiger IV, a high speed catamaran, departs three times daily from Denarau Marina in Viti Levu, as does the Malolo Cat catamaran. In addition, seaplanes and helicopter services make getting to these exotic islands fast and easy.
